The History of BBQ and Due South BBQ
Where did barbecue come from? Due South BBQ was established in January 2007. Where did Due South BBQ come from? After we moved to Christiansburg from the Upstate of South Carolina we discovered there was nowhere to eat good BBQ. We quickly got to work to fix that problem. Smoking pulled pork BBQ had been our hobby on the weekends for years. We would cook for parties, tailgates, family get-togethers and holidays. We would travel to BBQ festivals to sample all the various meats and sauces and always sample the BBQ when traveling to other states. One time we even chased down a festival called Hamfest in Shelby, NC. We pulled up, ready to eat and then realized we had just paid to go into a Ham radio festival. (Who noticed all those antennas on the cars on the way in?) We love BBQ and take pride in slow smoking our pork butts for 12-14 hours over hickory in our Ole Hickory or Lang BBQ pits. We know you'll love the pulled pork and think you'll like our chicken, ribs and brisket too. Add your choice of our five sauces: Sweet Red, Sweet Brown, vinegar based Lexington, mustard based Yellow, or our Hot Red (2007 VA State Championship 1st Place Sauce) and get ready for what the Roanoke Times says is, "... barbecue so good it seems like cheating to eat it right here in the New River Valley." We think you will enjoy the Due South BBQ taste and experience, so come on in, sit and eat, and enjoy some Bluegrass music always playin' - either over the speakers, or handmade by local pickers stopping in to play for a while. We hope you will make Due South your BBQ of choice. - Jared and Marie March
